A good manager spends time and energy to focus on important business issues. Good managers know how to keep fully informed without getting totally involved. Good managers know how hard they can push. Their support and opposition is clearly identified within the organization. Good managers posses a talent for compromising and accepting the changes in business to achieve the goal.

Each business manager is different. Each boss has his/her own management style. If you are a business owner and have to hire a manager, find one that is personally comfortable and most appropriate to your business needs. If you are looking for a management opportunities, ask yourself: are ready to be a boss. Do you have skills and proper training to give orders, making decisions, facilitate meetings, solve problems. Do you have proper oral and negotiation skills. Can you handle difficult employees? Are you in good health to withstand the stress associated with administrative work? Do you accept a criticism? Do you have good sense of humor?

If you are accepting top management position within a company, you are committed to the company, shareholders, and overall success. You must be strong and disciplined. Many management jobs require a long working hours, extensive travel. To be a god boss means respect other people and use your power responsible and fairly. Knowing how to give orders does not constitutes being a good boss. You must understand the activities, relationships to make it all work. Setting the priorities, identify the problems and find the solution or right person to solve problems are key to your success.
Many managers (micromanagers) trust nobody -- They try to do everything by themselves or watching every employees step. The results are: no time for real management, poor employee training, errors and mistakes, frustrating employees, unhappy customers, unhappy upper management or business owner. Another example of poor management: you give too many orders to one person, change orders often, not allowing your employee to finish previous task. The result: too many unfinished projects, confused and frustrated employees--again unhappy customers, upper management and shareholders.

Be patient with new employees. If they need training, take time and resources necessary to make sure, that this employee can do job write, on time and with good quality. Never neglect the importance of your employees safety. Safety training for new employees and periodical safety training for all employees must be a priority for every manager to prevent accidents and injuries at work. Be a good boss!
